I checked out an article on the best practices for the flipped classroom. Many teachers probably believe that the implementation is simple, but there is a great deal of planning that needs to go into flipping. In the same vein, it's also very important that we remember that the students still need to view the content on their time. Preparation and our classroom environments need to emphasize, value, reward, and foster this.

Proof That Kids Don't Need Teachers
Sugata Mitra, a researcher in India, makes a compelling argument for what he refers to as "minimally invasive education." Check out the following links about his "Hole in the Wall" experiments during which he left web-powered computers in impoverished neighborhoods. Interested kids were able to reach a level of technological fluency equal, if not higher, than kids receiving formal computer training and even many adults.
Read these links to learn a little more about his research. I thought he was nuts at first, but the more I read, the more I wanted to know more.

As a first post, I'm trying to embed this blog into my website dedicated to flipping ELA classrooms. You can visit it at http://sites.google.com/site/flippedELA
If anyone knows how to do so, please leave me a message. Thanks...
